Revelation 14:7 Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.

I love the Book of Revelation, because it displays the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. We get a glimpse of what is going on in the heavenly realm. There is constant worship before the throne of God for His majesty and glory. In Revelation 5, we see the whole host of heaven and the saints worshiping the Lamb of God, Jesus. As one famous revivalist put it, “Revelation is full of Majesty, Mystery, and Misery.” The Lord is Sovereign and Omnipotent over his creation, and we see that His judgments are true and righteous. We should grow in the Fear of the Lord after reading  the Book of Revelation.

However, it seems that a lot of preaching in the Western Christian Church has diminished the glory of Jesus, who is begging men to come to him for salvation. There is a whole movement that is designated in eliminating the offense of the Gospel, known as the “Seeker Sensitive Movement.” That uses carnal methods to attract people to Christ, such as food, entertaining worship, and relevant preaching. Jesus is reduced down to always being positive, and doesn’t really care if you obey Him, since God is love. Jesus is just here to supply all your heart’s desire, so you can keep up with the Joneses.  The former statement is pretty much the motto of what is known as the “Prosperity Gospel”, where you can declare you future in faith in whatever you desire. Sadly, believers are delude in thinking that the things of this world like money, houses, and cars is the “normal” type of Christian life that God owns them. The Prosperity Gospel is full of formula prayers to twist the hand of God for “riches”, and no Christian should be poor. The reason I put riches in quotations is because it is subjective. The world thinks riches is in terms of money, houses, cars, position, and power. True riches is knowing the Lord, and abiding in His presence.

Luke 16:11 “Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Preachers are telling people to come to Christ to be at peace, solve your marriage, get a better job, receive the benefit of healing, and much more! This is known as a “Man-centered” Gospel , which is focused on what I can get out of Jesus. The another spectrum of preaching is known as a “God-Centered” Gospel, that is focused on the glory of God. The only things that are going to endure in the end is the areas of our life given to the Glory of God. If you have to ask yourself this question, “How are people coming to Christ?” (1) Are they prostrated before the Lord in a helpless sinful state, and a heart that is surrender to the Lordship of Jesus or (2) Full of self, with pride in their hearts with a self-seeking heart to get something out of the Lord. Jesus rebuked the crowd for seeking Him, because their bellies were full of food (John 6:26).

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to myself.

John 12:32

The fact is unbelievers are worshiping and serving the gods of this world. The fallen nature is always in a position of worshiping self. They have turned themselves into a “little god”, where they are lord of their lives. Most think they are a “good” person, because they haven’t carried any heinous crimes.

Romans 1:25 “Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

The truth of who the Lord is replaced for a lie. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16). Every nation, power, and person is under the authority of the Lord.  Dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see (1 Timothy 6:16). He is the Creator of all things in heaven, every angel and every throne, who knows the majesty of heaven.  Every earthly thing, think of every mountain, river, lake, animal, planets, and galaxies (Colossians 1:16). There are 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe! Just in the Milky Way galaxy there are 100 thousand million stars! Must have been a pretty big band! He is before all things and all things were made for Him. He holds everything together, whether it be the functions of your body or the rotation of the earth. (Colossian 1:17).

Isaiah 40:17 “All nations before Him are as nothing, and they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.” He is the Judge of all men, where he was the power to give you eternal life or the power to cast your soul into the lake of fire for eternal punishment. He is perfect, holy, and righteous. He gave up His dominion and took on flesh to die for the sins of mankind. He was tempted, mocked, scourged, beaten, spit upon, stripped naked, and died a tortuous death of the cross by the hands of sinners. He could have easily spoken a word to wipe out all of man, who are sinners, but chose to die a sinners death on our behalf. He is a God of all comfort, Prince of peace, friend, and Savior of the World. He wants to save your soul from sin and death (Luke 19:10). He wants to relationship with you so you can be with Him forever. He came to give us life and life more abundantly. I could go on and on. As we speak with people about Jesus, we need to keep in mind these truths. Come to Christ for who He is! John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Look at how Paul described to the Corinthians about the light of the Gospel.

Corinthians 4:4 “Lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

Unbelievers hearts are darken to this reality of the glory of Jesus, who is God. Paul is talking about revelation knowledge, not information, but Spirit to spirit revelation of who Jesus is. Paul writes about the reason peoples hearts and minds are being darken.

Romans 1:21 “They did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

When you fail to glorify Jesus as God, you will be given over to vain thoughts and your sinful nature and demonic forces will darken your understanding to the truth.

Romans 1:22, 23 “Professing to be wise, they become fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an IMAGE made like corruptible man and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”

People’s hearts are puffed up with pride of self, they diminish the glory of God into something that is along the level of man. To the world, Jesus is just another good moral teacher. The teachings of Jesus are just a suggestion, not a commandment. The fact is that men do not want to give up their life that is full of sin, they want to be the ruler of their lives.

Corinthians 4:5 “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.”

Jesus should be the focus on our preaching. People think Jesus is our church building, church activities, sermon, reading the Bible, prayer, and church fellowship meeting (Not against these things). We should never preach Jesus so we can get more members to come to our “Church”, salvation belongs to the Lord (Psalms 3:8). Our preaching should be for Jesus’ sake and for His kingdom.

Corinthians 4:6 “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

The Gospel is giving the lost light to the knowledge of God in the face of Jesus. His glorious sacrifice of the cross for the payment for sin. In preaching a “God-centered” Gospel, a person will get light in who they are in the eyes of the Lord. They are a sinner, who is a criminal that deserves the punishment for their sins. Jesus is not going to allow filth in His heavenly kingdom. Today is the day of salvation, that Jesus by His Holy Spirit can wash and cleanse us from our sin. They are in a helpless and desperate state to call upon the name of the Lord for salvation (Romans 10:13). They will see how much the Lord prizes their soul in dying for him, and the great salvation that is provided for them. Their only option is to repent of their sin, surrender their life to Him, and ask Jesus to transform their heart to one that is clean and holy, thus the new birth (born again).

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:10,11
