John 6:33 “I am bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”

The Lord put on my heart to share with you today about the completeness that we have in Jesus. Let me ask the simply question today, is Jesus your life? Is He the center of your life? Jesus came to give us life, and life more abundantly (John 10:10), where the life He was referring to here is not a better earthly life, but the very life of Jesus, the life of God through the Holy Spirit. Jesus called this “eternal life” or if you want to get theological it is known as zoe life (the Greek word for life). The world is constantly bombarding us to be conformed to its pattern of a “normal life.” The world is set on fulling the lusts of the flesh-life, or in other words its all about me. People who are following the world make their job, outward appearance, money, houses, cars, things, sex, entertainment, sports, politics their life. Everything revolves around the things of the world. John exhorts us not to set our affection on the world, but rather on doing the will of God. The flesh-life might seem important or popular now, but it is only temporal and will eventually fade away. The flesh-life never satisfies, it is a life that is a lower plane of life that is set on Self. Self comes in many forms, sometimes it can look spiritual, but the mind of the flesh is still set on pleasing the flesh. The life that Jesus promises (John 6:33) will never leave us unsatisfied, we will never hunger or thirst.

1 John 2:15-17 “ Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

This mindset is even adopted in a lot of preaching today. We have created a composite gospel message, come to Jesus to be somebody, come to Jesus to get a better earthly life, come to Jesus to get out of debt, come to Jesus to fix your marriage, come to Jesus to get the desires of your heart, etc. Listen to what Jesus said about coming to Him.

Matthew 16:24-26 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life (flesh-life_ will lose it, but whoever loses his life (flesh-life) for My sake will find it (life of Jesus). 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

The call that Jesus gave to follow Him is death to our flesh-life. Many think that is such a horrible thing to die to Self, but that is where true life is birthed out of. See that is the paradox that Jesus taught, we surrender our lives to follow Him, we actually gain the most precious form of life, the actually life of God to rule our spirit. The life that Jesus called His disciples to not to live by our own strength in striving to His commandments, but rather to live by the power of the Holy Spirit. As one man put it, the Christian life is the impossible life, it can’t be done by the willpower or the strength of man.  I am going to go through John 6 to show the true call of Christ that it is to himself, not the things of the world.

You are complete in Him (Jesus) .
