Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

The Christian life is a progression, going from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18), from taming our tongues (James 2:2) to speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). The Lord needs to give us light of areas in our life that are sinful (not up to the glory of God ~ missing the mark) in His eyes (Hebrews 4:12). It’s a progression, as we walk in the light, more of His Spirit reveals areas of our hearts that are not aligned with His will (1 John 1:7). Such as uttering idle words (Matthew 12:36) to preaching the gospel in pretense (Philippians 1:15,16)  to having a bad attitude about somebody (1 Peter 1:22). The fact is that it is a grind to change our character, it takes focus, perseverance, and most of all humility (Romans 5:3,4). Even after we become born again, we need to be refined in the fire, we are not perfected in holiness (1 Peter 1:7). Beware of doctrines that say you can’t stop sinning or the other extreme known as sinless perfection, meaning that you reached a perfected state.

Philippians 3:12 “ Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.”
