John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

The enemy seeks to offer us an alternative plan to the will of God that will seem good. All of the temptations that came to Jesus in the wilderness were pleasing and good to His flesh, but they were not the will of His Father. The enemy seeks to appeal to our own understanding that is short-sighted, limited, and unrenewed in the word of God. As Jesus did we need to use the word of God to fight against these seductions. These temptations will come to us harder when we are in a wilderness, meaning we are in needed or having an unfulfilled desire not come to pass.
