John 19:30 “It is finished!”

Ways of Man to Overcome: Strive, human determination, willpower, own strength, reason out

Ways of the Lord to Overcome: Faith in the Victory of Jesus, Jesus is our Deliverer by Faith

It’s easy to see that the focus is shifted from self to Jesus. It’s important to understand that doing by the arm of the flesh does not please God, that’s the law.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.”

Romans 4:3 “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

Roman 8:8 “So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

Galatians 5:6 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”

Romans 14:23 “But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.”

Faith is what moves the heart of God. Read Hebrews 11, known as the faith chapter, men of God moved by faith to do exploits for the Lord. Obedience to the Lord will always begin with faith, and you could also make the point that disobedience is preceded by unbelief. Today I want to look at 9 areas where Jesus has completely gained the victory. That’s right they are complete in Christ, because He already overcame them for us. We tap into the victory by faith in Jesus. We are united with Him. Since Jesus overcame, we have also overcome.  Each one of these works are an act of the grace of God. Grace is what God does for us.

Judicial Position: Jesus has completed the work: ex. Justification, Sanctification. Etc.

Experimental Position: These truths are made alive in our lives through faith

1 Corinthians 6:17 “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him”

Jesus has overcome Hell/Wrath of God/Law: Justification

Our walks with Jesus begin with salvation, where He took away our sins on the cross so we won’t have to suffer the wrath of God. Jesus came so we won’t be separated from God by our sins, which is Hell. The law of God condemned us as guilty sinners before God. Remember, God is a just judge, He won’t overlook sin, there must be punishment. Jesus overcame the suffering for our sins by shedding His blood!

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Justified means to be accounted as righteous. Think in a court of law, the criminal has now been declared righteous, by someone else taking upon the penalty.

Ephesians 2:8,9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is a free gift of God that needs to be received by faith. Note this faith is not mental consent, but it is faith birthed into your spirit by the Holy Spirit through being born again. Requires repentance from sin, surrendering your life to Jesus (turning from your own will to the will of God), and by faith asking Him to forgive you of your sins and that He would change your heart.

Romans 5:9 “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

It’s only by the blood of Jesus that we are deemed acceptable in God the Father’s sight. Good works do not merit salvation.

Galatians 3:11 “But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for the just shall live by faith.”

It is important to know that Jesus became the Passover Lamb for us, the judgment of God passed over the children of Israel, because of the blood of the lamb.

Exodus 12:13 “Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

Here are a couple other verses regarding the blood of Jesus for remission of sins:

Luke 22:20 “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”

Hebrews 9:12 “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Colossians 2:13,14 “He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross.”

1 John 1:7 “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

It is great joy to understand that our standing with God is based on the blood of Jesus not works. If we do sin, we always go back to the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from this sin.

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

The enemy wants to keep us in prisons of despair that we are not accepted in God’s eyes, because of our weaknesses, sins, and shortcomings. The blood of Jesus is our defense against the devil. When he comes to accuse us we always go back to the blood of Jesus, not our own righteousness.

Revelation 12:10,11 “For the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

The next time the enemy accuses us of sin, speak to him that the blood of Jesus has cleansed you from all sins by faith.  God the Father accepts His Son Jesus Christ, how much more will He accept His own blood, that is the unshakable grounds of our salvation!
