1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Everything in this world that seems beautiful is going to fade away. Whether it be your appearance, riches, possessions, position, and power, all things are going to fade away (James 1:11). In a hundred years from now, the world is going to look totally different. Go to the library or go online and look at a picture a hundred years ago of the University of Delaware campus, you will be shock of what it looks like. The word of God says that life is like a vapor that appears for a little while than vanishes away (James 4:14). You are just going to be here for a little while then boom you’re gone, you die. Even though our body dies, our soul live on forever. God has set eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11). You are probably more familiar with the term infinite from math class, but think about eternity. After we die, we will be judged by Jesus according to what we did with our lives (Romans 2:16, Hebrews 9:27). Everything will be brought to judgment, even the secret things. Everything that is hidden will be brought to the light (Luke 8:17). If I could put your thoughts on a movie screen of the things you thought of just this last week, you would be so embarrassed and filled with shame that you would run out of this campus so that you would never be seen again. I know for myself that I stand condemned, because I have done and thought of things so filthy in my past (Romans 3:23). The word of God confirms that there is none righteousness, no not one. There is none good (Romans 3:10). Our sin is what separates us from knowing Jesus (Isaiah 59:2). Sin is wicked, filthy, perverse (1 John 3:4). The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Sin has no life to it, it just results in death. Jesus said he who sins is a slave of sin (John 8:34). Before I became born again, I was a slave of sin, I was a slave of sexual sin, a slave of ear and worry (Titus 3:3). I was a slave of myself (1 Timothy 3:2). I was in bondage, no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get free (Romans 7:24). The source of sin starts in your heart. It is a choice. A free will choice against the good and perfect will of God. When you sin you are rebelling against the very fabricate of your being. The design of God. You say I love my sin, that is because Jesus has given you over to sin. Given over to uncleanness (Romans 1:24), given you over to vile passions (Romans 1:26), given you over to a debased mind (Romans 1:28). Jesus isn’t playing games. Jesus said repent or you will perish (Luke 13:3). Sin leads to eternal death. And if you die in your sins, you will judged as a sinner in the eyes of Jesus, and will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14). The good news is today is a day of mercy, today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Jesus is calling you out to you today, through us, and saying who are you serving today (Matthew 6:24) ? Why will you stiffen your hearts toward the living God and perish in your sin. Jesus came on a rescue mission, to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). He is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16), because He has great love for you he came down and became a man and died for you. He was condemned for you (2 Corinthians 5:21). For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that all that believe in Him might be saved (John 3:16,17). Jesus lived a sinless life, and shed his precious blood for you (1 Peter 3:18). He was beaten, bruised, spit upon, mocked, and tortured. He hung on that Roman cross for you, the Roman cross was the worst type of death. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Jesus said you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven (John 3:3,5). You need a new heart that loves and obeys God. Your heart condition right now is full of sin, you need Jesus to give you a new heart with His Spirit. Repent of your sins, surrender your life, ask Him to forgive you of your sins and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit! Call upon the name of the Lord to be saved!
